About us
Ritterman
Excavating
A family rooted in the trades since 1958, building the ground beneath North Dakota communities.
Our story
The Ritterman family has been part of the trades since 1958, when James's grandfather opened Ritterman Trucking. James grew up in the business, joining after high school as an equipment operator — but he had bigger ambitions.
In 2019, he purchased the heavy equipment from the family operation and founded Ritterman Excavating on October 1st. Ritterman Trucking continued under his father and uncle while James channeled his energy into excavation.
Our focus
Ritterman Excavating specializes in dirt work and site preparation for residential developments and commercial construction sites across the York, ND region.
From rough grading a raw pasture to precise finish work around a completed build, every project gets the same hands-on attention that has defined this family's work for three generations.
"For me, it's like a kid in a big sandbox. When you get to see a project start as a pasture and then the dirt work built up and everything graded around it, it's like we are painting a picture with the earth."
